Law Student - Columbia Law & Founder of Brandon's Coalition for Success

Brandon Reid was born and raised in Annapolis, Maryland, where he attended Hillsmere Elementary School, Annapolis Middle School, and Indian Creek School. When he was a sophomore in high school, he started a mentoring program called Brandon’s Coalition for Success, which supports young people who are at risk of following the school-to-prison pipeline. That program has experienced great success with its efforts, as many of the mentees are on the route to achieving their life goals. Brandon’s Coalition for Success is entering its eighth year of service to the Annapolis community.

After high school, Brandon moved to North Carolina and attended Davidson College. At Davidson, he majored in philosophy while also following the school’s pre-medicine track. Outside of classes, Brandon was involved in Davidson’s Student Government Association, through which he served two terms as Student Body President. He is the only student in Davidson’s history to serve two terms as Student Body President.

While following the pre-medicine track, he completed a heart research project that offered ground-breaking insight to the field of cardiology. He was invited to present this research at global conferences- one in Barcelona, Spain, and another in Sirolo, Italy.

In his junior year at Davidson, Brandon began to alter his post-graduate plans. He returned to Annapolis for a few months during the Covid pandemic and a news clip reignited his interest in battling the school-to-prison pipeline. At that time, Brandon reconnected with a childhood friend, who was incarcerated on a fifteen year sentence in Maryland.
